Position Overview

Akelius is in search of a knowledgeable Sustainability Coordinator to become a part of the Construction team.

The Sustainability Coordinator will be tasked with identifying, documenting, and executing energy conservation initiatives for Akelius properties and prospective acquisitions.

The successful applicant will possess exceptional interpersonal, communication, and analytical abilities.

  • Examine utility consumption and expenditure data for buildings
  • Assess building potential prior to acquisition
  • Oversee energy and water efficiency evaluations
  • Propose strategies for minimizing utility usage
  • Collaborate with asset management and construction teams to implement strategies
  • Measure and validate savings from executed strategies
  • Conduct training sessions for construction and property personnel
  • Assist in the formulation of efficiency guidelines and standards
  • Manage the execution of energy projects
  • Monitor energy-related incentives and rebates
  • Submit applications for energy-related incentives and rebates
  • Support property inspections
  • Complete various energy-related reports
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction, or building science
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience
  • In-depth technical knowledge of energy and water efficiency
  • Preferred certifications: LEED, WELL, or other building certifications
  • Experience in energy auditing and modeling
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or equivalent is preferred
  • Experience in implementing efficiency measures in multifamily or commercial properties
  • Familiarity with corporate sustainability initiatives and programs
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
