Job Summary

The Director of Sustainability and Resilience is responsible for spearheading NeighborWorks America's efforts to develop and implement comprehensive strategies that promote environmental sustainability and climate resilient homes and communities. This includes efforts that are informed by the NeighborWorks network and strengthen lines of business. The key focus areas for the Director include strategy development and implementation, partnership development, policy and practice research, network engagement, and internal coordination.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of NeighborWorks America's sustainability and climate resilience strategy, including establishing key metrics and business line strategies.
  • Foster strategic partnerships with technical, public, philanthropic, and private sector resources to support sustainability initiatives.
  • Provide technical expertise on sustainability policies and practices in housing and community development, advising leadership on future strategies.
  • Engage network members to design and deliver technical assistance programs and disseminate best practices and resources.
  • Develop training programs in sustainability and resilience topics for housing professionals, collaborating with the Training Division.
  • Manage day-to-day project coordination, including goals, outcomes, budget planning, and collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
Requirements
  • College level degree, certification(s), and/or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • 12 years of relevant work experience with at least 5 to 7 years of experience developing and implementing environmental sustainability and climate resilience strategies and programs at the intersection of housing and community development that strengthen nonprofit capacity.
  • Experience in grants management, including developing and administering grant opportunities.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage technical assistance programs with new tools, resources, and training.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships, coordinating with national and local partners and funders.
  • Strong project management skills, including budget oversight and coordination with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a track record of making informed recommendations.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with a commitment to equity and social justice.
Working Conditions

a) Travel: Approximately 25% travel.

b) Physical/Sensory Demands: Fast-paced working environment with extensive computer usage and technological communication.

c) Hybrid: Work from home up to 3 days per week.

Salary Range

$116,000 - $145,000

The salary offered for the role will be based on a variety of factors, including geographic location, internal equity, and the candidate's qualifications/professional experience.
