Overview:
Iowa Fluid Power is seeking an Automation Systems Specialist to become a vital part of our innovative team.


In this role, you will collaborate with various clients to design and implement control systems tailored for diverse applications, ranging from off-highway vehicles to industrial settings.


Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop control systems for projects of varying complexity.

Assess and propose alternative system solutions that align with specified requirements.

Engineer or modify electrical control enclosures and software. Gain expertise in multiple programming languages and control device networks for PLCs and PCs.

Engage with clients to understand their operational needs. Define project scope, timelines, and deliverables with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:


A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution, or equivalent experience.


A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in industrial control systems and system integration, with a strong emphasis on software development, programming, and control enclosure design.


Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, with a keen attention to detail and a readiness to learn new technologies swiftly.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team, effectively interacting with clients at various organizational levels in a manufacturing or production context.

Familiarity with NEC electrical codes NFPA 70 and 70E, as well as safety systems.

Experience with hydraulic systems and motion control, UL508A, and Rockwell SLC500 to ControlLogix PLC programming.

Networking knowledge including protocols such as EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, EtherCAT, Modbus, and variations of CAN.

Proficiency in CoDeSys, Mobile PLC controllers, LabVIEW, PID loops, motion control tuning, and HMI programming.


Experience in servo system design, development, and troubleshooting of advanced motion control systems, including multi-axis configurations, database interfacing, and data acquisition.


Knowledge in schematic design and panel layout using AutoCAD or similar tools, along with device configuration such as VFDs, PWM drivers, and DC motor controls.

Flexibility in scheduling when feasible to minimize business disruptions during planned or unplanned system modifications.

Willingness to travel for field support, typically less than 10%.

Additional Skills:
Experience with battery and drive systems for off-highway applications.

Familiarity with vision systems, robotics, and telematics.
