Candidate Profile

We are seeking a dedicated Process Engineering Specialist who excels in developing process flow diagrams and P&IDs to support our sales initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding communication skills, demonstrating the ability to engage with clients to comprehend their requirements and relay complex information effectively to our estimators and design engineers. This role demands a reliable, honest, and adaptable individual who can manage multiple projects across various locations while fostering positive relationships with field personnel, peers, and clients.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Process Engineering Specialist include, but are not limited to:
  • Equipment Sizing: Evaluate process requirements to determine suitable equipment sizes and specifications; select and specify process equipment and components based on project demands and industry standards.
  • Component Specification: Identify and specify valves, pumps, piping, equipment, and instrumentation for various projects; ensure compliance with regulatory and design standards relevant to the customer and industry.
  • Scope Definition: Collaborate with stakeholders to outline project scope and objectives; develop comprehensive project specifications and documentation to guide design, execution, and implementation.
  • Job Cost Analysis: Assist in creating project budgets, providing precise cost estimates for equipment and materials; collaborate with project management and procurement teams to ensure cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
  • Communication with Drafters and Estimators: Offer technical guidance and support to drafters in producing accurate engineering drawings; work closely with estimators to ensure accurate project pricing.
  • Coordination with Project Managers: Collaborate with project managers to establish and maintain project timelines; monitor progress to ensure milestones are achieved and address any issues promptly.
  • Customer Coordination: Conduct field visits to confirm and document site conditions, equipment, and arrangements; contribute to project commissioning and start-ups.
  • Management Synchronization: Develop, enhance, and adhere to processes and procedures; openly share observations to improve Sterling's operations and commitment to quality.
Qualifications

Required:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in process engineering.
  • At least 2 years of experience in two or more of the following sectors: Manufacturing, Food and Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Personal Care Products.
  • Proficient in reading P&IDs, engineering drawings, and blueprints.
  • Able to produce sketches and drawings (including P&IDs or 3D models).
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, ERP Systems, CAD systems, etc.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of process equipment.

Preferred:
  • 5 years of industry experience.
  • 10 years of process engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of Food and Beverage Processing.
  • Familiarity with stainless steel fabrication.
  • Experience with control systems and process automation (PLCs).
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Plant3D.
  • Experience in material and piping take-offs, budget setting, and timeline development.

Desired:
  • Experience with Global Shop Solutions (ERP).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams, Planner, SharePoint, and Project.
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor & Vault.
Additional Requirements:
  • Willingness to travel (by car and airplane).
  • Clean driving record.
  • Pass a background check.
  • Possession of a passport is desirable but not mandatory.

Compensation: Competitive salary range of $85,000 - $115,000, along with comprehensive benefits including company-sponsored medical, 401k, paid vacation, and holidays; additional options for dental, vision, long-term disability, short-term disability, life insurance, and AD&D available.
