The Lead Utility/Stock role encompasses a variety of essential kitchen functions, including washing pots and dishes, maintaining cleanliness, and managing the storage of food and supplies. This position also involves assisting in the coordination of utility tasks within the department. This is a full-time opportunity.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and coordinate all activities performed by the utility staff, including scheduling breaks.
  • Uphold rigorous sanitation standards.
  • Manage storerooms and walk-in coolers to ensure compliance with departmental standards, rotating food products, and promptly communicating any storage or inventory concerns to the Chef.
  • Assist in executing kitchen closing procedures according to established standards and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point guidelines.
  • Support the Chef in expediting service during dinner hours.
  • Perform dish and pot washing, general cleaning, and organize the storage of food and non-food items.
  • Prepare the dishwashing area for efficient operations.
  • Distribute and store clean pots, dishes, and utensils.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of production equipment, work surfaces, and the kitchen as per cleaning schedules.
  • Regularly empty and clean trash receptacles.
  • Assist the kitchen with minor food preparation tasks and other production duties as required.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to personal appearance and cleanliness standards.
  • Ensure safe and sanitary working conditions.
  • Participate in training and educational sessions as assigned.
  • Carry out specific duties and responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions in English.
  • Experience in setting up and operating dishwashing equipment.
  • ServSafe certification is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Proven track record of safe work practices.
  • Effective leadership capabilities.
  • Compliance with immunization requirements and policies is essential for this role.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

This position is primarily indoors, requiring the ability to stand or walk for the entire workday. Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs independently and manage bus and tray carts weighing up to 50 lbs. Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and balancing are necessary. Candidates should be comfortable performing sweeping and mopping tasks and may encounter varying temperatures from ovens and freezers, as well as exposure to industrial cleaning agents and hot water.
