The Lead Utility/Stock worker is responsible for a variety of kitchen tasks, including washing pots and dishes, maintaining cleanliness, and managing the storage of food and supplies, along with basic food preparation duties. This role also involves assisting in the coordination of utility operations within the department. This is a full-time position.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Organize and oversee all tasks performed by utility staff while managing break schedules.
  • Uphold high standards of sanitation and cleanliness.
  • Maintain storerooms and walk-in refrigerators to meet departmental standards, ensuring proper rotation of food products and communicating any storage concerns to the Chef.
  • Coordinate kitchen closing procedures in accordance with established standards and safety guidelines.
  • Assist the Chef in expediting service during dinner hours.
  • Perform dish and pot washing, general cleaning, and manage the storage of food and non-food items.
  • Set up the dishwashing area effectively.
  • Prepare for the washing of pots, dishes, and utensils.
  • Distribute and store clean kitchenware appropriately.
  • Clean and sanitize production equipment and work surfaces according to established cleaning schedules.
  • Manage trash disposal and cleaning of containers as necessary.
  • Support the kitchen with minor food preparation tasks and other production duties as required.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Maintain personal appearance and hygiene standards.
  • Ensure safe and sanitary working conditions.
  • Participate in training and educational sessions as assigned.
  • Carry out specific duties and responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions in English.
  • Experience in setting up and operating dishwashing equipment.
  • ServSafe certification is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Capability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to work safely.
  • Strong leadership abilities.
  • Compliance with immunization requirements and health policies is mandatory for all employees.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

This position involves indoor work; candidates must be able to stand or walk for the entirety of the workday and lift up to 30 lbs independently. The role requires the ability to push and pull carts weighing up to 50 lbs and perform bending, stooping, reaching, and balancing tasks frequently. Candidates should be comfortable with sweeping and mopping duties and may encounter varying temperatures from kitchen appliances and cleaning chemicals.
