The Georgia Cancer Center at Augusta University is dedicated to assembling a multidisciplinary team of researchers, clinicians, and support staff committed to advancing cancer care and research. This collaborative environment is focused on enhancing patient outcomes through innovative clinical trials and expert-led care. The research conducted at the M. Bert Storey Research Building is aimed at exploring groundbreaking strategies for cancer prevention and treatment, with several faculty members actively engaged in clinical trials that translate research findings into practical applications.

This role is intended for a new Principal Investigator who will spearhead a team of cancer researchers, driving forward innovative methodologies to combat cancer. The recruitment of a distinguished Principal Investigator is essential for the Cancer Center to achieve its objective of obtaining National Cancer Institute (NCI) designation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Secure and sustain external grant funding for cancer research initiatives.
  • Demonstrate a robust publication record in esteemed, peer-reviewed journals.
  • Establish and direct an independent research program while mentoring graduate students and junior faculty.
  • Participate in educational activities and graduate programs with a focus on oncology.
  • Collaborate with fellow faculty members at the Georgia Cancer Center on research and educational projects as opportunities arise.


Qualifications
A PhD in Biology, Chemistry, or a related life or natural science from an accredited institution, accompanied by a minimum of four years of experience in a research environment.

Compensation and Benefits
Academic rank, tenure status, and salary will be aligned with the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
