Civil Engineering Manager

Ducks Unlimited, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced civil engineering manager to support our wetland restoration efforts in the Great Lakes geography.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee a dynamic engineering program and supervise a team of engineers responsible for scoping, planning, designing, bidding, and construction/budget management of habitat restoration and enhancement projects.
  • Coach engineering team to interpret, select, adapt, and apply engineering, surveying, and construction management principles and practices across a range of engineering services related to habitat delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with project delivery agreements, permits, industry standards, and procurement conditions.
  • Develop and administer QA/QC procedures associated with the engineering program.
  • Prepare and/or review proposal scope of work, budgets, and schedules in close coordination with regional engineers and biological staff.
  • Prepare supporting documents, reviews contracts, ensures contract compliance, and manages project budgets for construction and consultant contracts.
  • Participate in annual budget development for a three-state region.
  • Ensure that engineering staff resources are allocated appropriately to complete programmatic workload in collaboration with the Manager of Conservation Programs.
  • Coordinates with other Engineering Managers to increase consistency and efficiency across the region.
  • Identifies opportunities for potential growth in cooperation with the Manager of Conservation Programs.
  • Performs and/or supports coordination, training, recruitment, hiring, and retention of staff.
  • Develops relationships with the goal of promoting the company's habitat delivery and engineering program and represents DU in a professional manner.
Requirements:
  • B.S in Civil Engineering or an equivalent degree from an EAC/ABET accredited engineering program.
  • Registered professional engineer.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil engineering design.
  • Minimum of 2 years of concurrent experience in a management or supervisory role.
  • Strong background in ecological restoration and water resources.
  • Experience with Autodesk Civil3D, land surveying, and construction management and inspection.
  • Demonstrated oral, written, and effective communication skills.
