AACOM is in search of a dedicated and seasoned Government Relations Manager who is passionate about leveraging their expertise in advocacy and policy to further the legislative and regulatory goals of osteopathic medicine.
Key Responsibilities
The Government Relations Manager will serve as a registered federal lobbyist, providing a credible voice for the Association. This role involves:
- Establishing and nurturing relationships with key policymakers and stakeholders.
- Developing and distributing legislative and regulatory updates to AACOM's members and the public.
- Facilitating government relations groups and organizing events such as lobby days and briefings on Capitol Hill.
- Representing AACOM in discussions with Congress, federal agencies, and external stakeholders.
- Engaging members in advocacy efforts related to legislative and regulatory matters.
- Monitoring and analyzing political, legislative, and regulatory trends impacting AACOM and its members.
- Creating content for government relations, including newsletters, fact sheets, and public policy briefs.
Additional Responsibilities
- Enhancing AACOM's nominations to federal advisory committees and maintaining communication with relevant officials.
- Collaborating with the VP and other directors to coordinate the work of external lobbying firms.
- Researching and reporting on federal legislation and funding opportunities relevant to AACOM's priorities.
- Building and managing relationships with various industry stakeholders.
- Performing other duties as required based on experience.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in an association environment with a focus on government relations or advocacy.
- Strong knowledge of federal healthcare and education policies.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to represent the association effectively.
- Strategic thinking skills and the ability to assess legislative risks and opportunities.
- High level of professional judgment and the ability to convey public policy issues clearly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with CQ Engage and Microsoft Teams is a plus.

Compensation
This is a full-time role with a competitive salary range of $75,000 to $85,000 annually, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
