Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal/Senior Principal Engineer Hardware Avionics to join our team at Northrop Grumman. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the development and integration of avionics hardware systems for our aircraft.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, and testing of avionics hardware systems, including flight control and safety systems.
  • Manage the development and integration of avionics hardware subsystems, including Identification Friend or Foe (IFF), Radar Altimeter (RadAlt), Air Data System (ADS), flight actuation system, Vehicle Management Computer (flight computer), and the Ethernet switch.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement system-level requirements, including proposal development, technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analysis, and supportability and effectiveness analyses.
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 5 years of experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with 3 years of experience, or a PhD Degree with no experience.
  • Ability to obtain a DOD Secret clearance within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (US citizenship is a pre-requisite).
  • Experience with the following SW Tools: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Visio), Matlab.
  • Experience with test equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, signal analyzers, multi-meters).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance or higher.
  • Good understanding of general avionics components.
  • Flight Test experience: Some experience.
  • Supplier management: Some experience.
  • Requirements development: Some experience.
  • Requirements verification testing: Some experience.
  • Prior experience as a military, civil, or commercial avionics technician.
What We Offer

Northrop Grumman offers a competitive salary range of $107,300 - $160,900, with a salary range 2 of $133,000 - $199,600. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
