Job Summary

The City of Dania Beach is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Part-Time Lifeguard to join our dynamic Parks and Recreation Team. As a Lifeguard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of beachgoers and providing emergency medical care when needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol the beach area on foot and by vehicle to identify potential safety hazards and provide assistance to those in need.
  • Enforce all rules and regulations governing public beach operations to prevent accidents and maintain order.
  • Maintain rescue equipment and vehicles, as well as perform custodial duties to keep the work area clean and safe.
  • Stay up-to-date with current certification and physical fitness standards.
  • Provide educational programs and services to the public, including water safety lessons and junior lifeguard training.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure effective communication and response to emergency situations.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least one year of open water lifesaving experience.
  • Valid CPR/AED certification and EMT license or EMR certification.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and to respond to emergency situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • USLA Surf Lifesaving Academy Certification.
  • At least two years of open water lifeguarding experience.
  • Paramedic's license.
  • EVOC certification.
  • USLA Training Officer Certification.
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification.
  • Swift Water Rescue Certification.
  • Rescue Scuba Diver Certification.
