Job Summary

Under limited supervision, patrol the beach and ocean areas from an assigned lifeguard tower, patrol vehicle or vessel and perform rescue and accident prevention activities at the beach in an open water environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol designated areas to ensure public safety and prevent accidents
  • Perform rescue operations and provide emergency care as needed
  • Educate the public on beach, water, and other public safety matters
  • May be assigned to perform special division activities, such as dispatching, officer coordinator, boat operator/deckhand or lifeguard instructor
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED (Education will be verified)
  • Previous lifeguarding experience highly desirable
  • American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguard Training certification or equivalent
  • CPR/First Aid, AED, O2 and American Heart Association BLS certifications are required
