Job Summary

American Institutes for Research is seeking a highly skilled Researcher to join our Health Division. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Medicare and Medicaid policy and will be responsible for supporting projects related to technical assistance, implementation support, evaluation, and analytical support for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), states, and foundations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret policy and regulation to develop monitoring measures and audit protocols
  • Coordinate with programmer staff to implement claims-based and other measures
  • Interpret quantitative measure outputs in light of policy context and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee junior staff in environmental scans, document reviews, and other monitoring and audit activities
  • Work with other contractors and CMS staff to obtain necessary data and investigate any outlier results
  • Lead reporting of methods and results in quarterly reports, or at other cadences as required, including helping to design content for dashboards
  • Work with Project Director to prepare abstracts for research conferences
Requirements
  • Masters degree in health administration, MPP, MBA, or MPA with a health-related focus/concentration, or PhD in public policy, public administration, public health, or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience in a similar contracted research/consulting firm, Federal or State-level government, or foundation that conducts policy and health services research
  • Ability to lead a small team and collaborate with other teams within the project and across other contractors
  • Comfortable working in a virtual/dispersed work environment
