Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Environmental Field Technician is tasked with the collection, examination, and evaluation of environmental samples, including air, soil, and water. This role requires a solid understanding of essential field and environmental support policies, regulations, and practices, along with the ability to complete necessary documentation and maintain relevant databases. The technician will also be responsible for the upkeep and troubleshooting of field equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts field services utilizing standard environmental support knowledge to assess conditions, including sample collection, test kit completion, and documentation of results.
  • Performs basic analysis to support standard testing protocols using established analytical instruments, adhering to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Reviews, analyzes, interprets, and documents testing outcomes.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots field equipment as necessary.
  • Prepares vehicles for daily operations, ensuring all necessary documents, kits, supplies, and safety equipment are in order.
  • Completes and processes logs, documents, databases, and reports accurately.
  • Provides support and guidance to staff and management regarding environmental support policies and practices.
  • Assists in researching issues and formulating recommendations to address employee and customer concerns.
  • Participates in the review and implementation of environmental support policies to meet operational needs.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant laws and regulations, seeking guidance when necessary.
  • Contributes to departmental efficiency by offering suggestions and actively participating in team efforts.
  • Promotes the mission of Pace Analytical by demonstrating professionalism and cooperation in interactions with customers and colleagues.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, environmental sciences, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Required Certifications:

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • HAZWOPER Certification.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of fundamental principles and techniques in environmental support.
  • Basic knowledge of chemistry principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with applicable environmental laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in the use of standard testing tools and calibration methods.
  • Competence in relevant computer applications and systems.
  • Safe driving practices.
  • Ability to learn and apply organizational policies regarding sample maintenance.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with team members and clients.
