Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our Guest Experience Team.

We are on the lookout for Guest Experience Team Members who are passionate about fostering meaningful connections between individuals, flora, and the natural world in one of Maine's most picturesque locations.

The Guest Experience Team Member plays a crucial role in our mission by acting as a representative of the organization, offering guests a warm welcome to the Gardens, and familiarizing them with the diverse services and experiences available. As often the first point of contact for visitors, the Guest Experience team has a unique opportunity to enhance the visitor journey through friendly, helpful, and efficient service.

Both full-time and part-time positions are available. This is a seasonal role, requiring availability on weekends and holidays.

Work hours are scheduled between 9:00 AM and 5:30 PM, with shifts typically running Thursday through Sunday during peak seasons.

Compensation: $ hourly, non-exempt.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcome guests with a friendly demeanor and address any inquiries or concerns with courtesy and patience.
  • Manage admissions and reservations using the Point-of-Sale system.
  • Handle cash transactions and process credit card payments.
  • Engage in membership promotion and process applications.
  • Assist guests with the rental of mobility devices, including scooters and wheelchairs.
  • Open and secure the Visitor Center at the start and end of the day.
  • Conduct property sweeps at closing to ensure all guests have exited.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization at the admissions desks.
  • Continuously update knowledge of the Gardens, including layout and offerings, to provide accurate information to guests.
  • Promote an inclusive culture that welcomes all visitors and fosters meaningful experiences with nature.
Physical Requirements:

Most duties are performed indoors during the summer season, with some outdoor responsibilities that may occur in varying weather conditions. The role requires standing for extended periods and involves daily walking and/or operating a golf cart.

  • Strong verbal communication skills, proficient in English.
  • Comfortable interacting with guests, volunteers, staff, and community members, aiming to exceed expectations and create memorable experiences.
  • Team-oriented mindset that enhances the work environment.
  • Ability to stand for long durations.
  • Proficient in operating a Point-of-Sale system and handling cash transactions.
  • Willingness to learn more about the Gardens.
