Job Summary

Alerus Financial is seeking a highly skilled Accounting Operations Specialist to support the internal accounting operations of the company. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to implement changes and improve processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Support: Provide support for accounting processes, including reconciliation of internal bank accounts, general ledger posting and balancing, accounts payable processing, and cash room transaction processing.
  • Application Ownership: Research and resolve system and process exceptions, implement new systems and enhancements, and maintain a working relationship with system vendors and product managers.
  • Customer Support: Provide prompt and courteous service to internal clients, communicate variances in regular routines, and identify and assist with training and support.
  • Product Support: Maintain a working knowledge of Alerus Financial products, develop relationships with product managers, and communicate with them regarding problems with products.
  • System and Industry Knowledge: Maintain in-depth knowledge of all systems and the banking industry, attend regulatory training, and complete mandatory employee training.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Associate's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in accounting, finance, bank operations, or securities accounting.
  • Skills: Strong typing, 10-key, and computer skills; ability to analyze and problem solve; knowledge of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
  • Personal Characteristics: Organized, attention to detail, ability to research and find solutions; professional appearance and conduct; active listener; positive attitude and team player.
