Job Title: Development Associate

CASA Sacramento is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Development Associate to join our team. As a key member of our Community Relations & Development department, you will play a vital role in supporting our CASA Volunteers and youth in foster care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support development mailings, including cleaning mailing lists, formatting and printing labels, stuffing envelopes, and tracking returns.
  • Assist the Development Manager in processing deposits, including entering donation information into the donor database, generating tax receipts, and mailing tax receipts.
  • Maintain donor and newsletter databases, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Schedule social media content on a monthly basis, monitor interactions, and notify staff when necessary.
  • Research prospective grants, event sponsors, and auction donors in the community.
Fundraising Event Support:
  • Support the Community Relations & Development Department with annual fundraising events, including the Crab Dinner, Big Day of Giving, and Light of Hope.
  • Prepare event-related mailings, track RSVP lists, and ensure event deliverables are met.
  • Auction item research, solicitation, tracking, and generating auction display sheets with item details.
  • Write in-kind donation receipts and enter them into the donor database.
  • Miscellaneous in-house printing of event materials.
  • Write event-specific thank-you notes.
Donor Relations Director Support:
  • Assist the Donor Relations Director in producing handwritten thank-you and outreach notes to mail to donors.
  • Help input and update donor information in databases.
  • Participate in outreach opportunities as requested and appropriate.
General Responsibilities:
  • Ensure confidentiality in all assigned activities.
  • Assist management and other staff with respect to assigned projects as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings monthly and staff development training as available.
  • Assist in volunteer appreciation events as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred (Associate Degree and/or equivalent work experience also considered).
  • Experience in an office setting, preferably social services, non-profit, or court-related program encouraged.
  • Excellent written, oral communication, and relationship skills.
  • Competent in the use of computers, Office suite of software, database management software, and social media.
  • Experience and knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
  • Experience with fundraising events as a staff member or volunteer.
  • Familiarity with donor engagement practices a plus.
  • Demonstrated respect for all people regardless of socioeconomic background, culture, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or gender identity and expression, and experience working with culturally diverse populations.
  • Ability to work comfortably with a supervisory team comprising professional staff and volunteers.
  • Criminal justice fingerprint clearance.
  • Must pass a background check in accordance with California Rule of Court DOJ/FBI/CACI and DMV background checks required.
Working Conditions:
  • Full-Time (40 hours per week). Schedule is Monday – Friday, however, some evening and late nights (9 pm) are required during the CASA quarterly training classes.
  • Work performed in a hybrid environment (60% in office & 40% remote). CASA Sacramento currently operates a hybrid model of 2-3 days per week in office and remainder of the week remote/in-office as needed.
  • Must complete 40 hours of CASA volunteer training within 90 days of hire. (This requirement may be waived if already completed as a CASA volunteer).
  • There is a 6-month introductory period.
  • Some weekend hours or evenings for training classes and events are required throughout the year.
