Job Summary

HHMI is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Technician to join our team. As a Research Technician, you will assist scientists and technicians in the performance of laboratory research and procedures, including electrophoresis, centrifugation, chromatography, and data collection and analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist scientists and technicians in the laboratory, performing various research procedures and operating scientific equipment.
  • Collect, record, and verify data, and prepare charts, graphs, and reports.
  • Configure and operate laboratory apparatus and instruments, and read and record instrument data.
  • Order chemicals, reagents, and laboratory supplies as needed.
  • Participate in laboratory meetings and planning sessions.
  • Stay current in research area through applicable literature.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in an appropriate field or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
  • Some related laboratory experience preferred.
  • Ability to draft routine reports and keep accurate records of work performed.
  • Ability to learn complex tasks with general instruction and use experience to perform a variety of new techniques.
Working Conditions

The position requires mobility, including the ability to move materials weighing up to several pounds. Work may involve possible exposure to malodorous vapors, low dose radiation, contamination by toxic chemicals and acids, and presence of carcinogenic substances.
