Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Technician to join our team at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. As a Research Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the conduct of laboratory research and procedures, ensuring the accuracy and quality of data, and contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist scientists and researchers in the performance of laboratory research and procedures, including the operation of various instruments and equipment.
  • Collect, record, and verify data, and perform calculations and prepare charts, graphs, and reports.
  • Configure and operate laboratory apparatus and instruments, and read and record instrument data.
  • Participate in laboratory meetings and planning sessions, and contribute to the development of research protocols and procedures.
  • Stay current in research area through applicable literature and maintain a high level of technical expertise.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in an appropriate field or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
  • Some related laboratory experience preferred.
  • Ability to draft routine reports and keep accurate records of work performed.
  • Actively seeks opportunities to increase skills and expertise.
  • Able to learn complex tasks with general instruction and use experience to perform a variety of new techniques.
Working Conditions

The position requires mobility, including the ability to move materials weighing up to several pounds. Work may involve possible exposure to malodorous vapors, low dose radiation, contamination by toxic chemicals and acids, and presence of carcinogenic substances.
