The Michigan State University Management Education Center is a premier venue for business conferences, strategically located in southeast Michigan.
Our expansive facility spans over 25 acres and features more than 25,000 square feet of adaptable indoor and outdoor event spaces, catering to a variety of educational and corporate gatherings.
Position Overview:
We are in search of a dedicated, dependable, and customer-focused individual to join our team. This role is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, enjoys engaging with people, possesses a high level of energy and enthusiasm, and is looking for an in-person service role.
Appropriate business attire is required.
Role Responsibilities:
As a Conference Services Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our conference center.
This in-person position is ideal for candidates seeking part-time to full-time opportunities with flexible afternoon and evening shifts, Monday through Friday. Some weekend availability will be necessary. Competitive hourly compensation is available, starting at a minimum of $17 per hour, based on experience.
Key Duties Include:
- Engaging with clients and conference center personnel.
- Interpreting and executing Banquet Event Orders.
- Setting up conference room layouts for various events.
- Monitoring and adjusting environmental controls such as heating, cooling, and lighting.
- Preparing and testing instructional technology, including computers, projectors, and sound systems.
- Assisting clients with technology setup and operation.
- Managing video conferencing equipment for virtual meetings.
- Overseeing lecture capture systems.
- Organizing and maintaining technical equipment.
- Performing light cleaning and maintenance tasks as needed.
