QUALIFICATIONS
- Required: Ability to work autonomously.
- Required: Proficiency in reading, writing, and comprehending instructions in English.
- Required: Effective communication skills.
- Preferred: One year of experience working with individuals with special needs.
- Preferred: Basic computer skills.
- Preferred: Certification in CPI or Safety Care.
- The Patient Support Associate is responsible for delivering safe and appropriate non-skilled therapeutic interventions as assigned. Responsibilities include patient supervision to ensure safety, transporting patients in preparation for treatment, obtaining and preparing necessary equipment for patient care, and maintaining a clean environment. The Patient Support Associate may also perform clerical duties within the staffing office as required.
- Ability to endure up to four hours of continuous work, with stamina for one and a half hours of constant sitting and one hour of independent mobility.
- Capability to safely transfer patients and provide hands-on assistance.
- Ability to lift or carry objects up to 10 pounds continuously, 20 pounds frequently, and up to 40 pounds for patient transfers and mobility.
- Ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds regularly throughout the day for patient transport and mobility tasks.
- Frequent need to change body positions to access equipment and provide treatment interventions.
- Functional fine and gross motor skills and upper extremity sensation are essential.
- Clear vision is necessary for observing patients' non-verbal cues and conducting skin assessments.
- Must be able to initiate and interpret communication with patients and colleagues.
- Job requires applying previously acquired knowledge and demonstrating flexibility in thought and reasoning.
- Organizational skills and the ability to act in new or unfamiliar situations are essential.
- Selective attention and concentration are necessary to complete tasks.
- Basic formulation, content, syntax, and spelling are required for task completion.
- Spontaneous communication and the ability to convey messages are necessary.
- Ability to comprehend lengthy messages and follow multi-step commands is required.
- Basic arithmetic skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, are necessary.
- Job requires primarily indoor work, with occasional outdoor tasks.
- Continuous interaction with others is necessary.
- Work schedule may fluctuate frequently due to patient-specific needs.
- Work environment may be noisy and somewhat crowded.
- Exposure to body fluids, contagious diseases, and bloodborne pathogens is possible.
- Occasional exposure to particles, chemicals, and thermal agents that may cause irritation.
- Assists in lifting, transporting, turning, and overall patient handling while utilizing proper body mechanics and safety protocols.
- Provides observation and direct assistance with patient activities as directed by licensed nursing staff.
- Demonstrates competency in using patient-related equipment as instructed.
- Observes and reports changes in patient conditions to the appropriate team members.
- Assists with meal setup and feeding as needed.
- Helps maintain cleanliness and orderliness in unit areas.
- Accurately documents assigned tasks in a timely manner using appropriate formats.
