Job Description

The Electrical Hardware Design Team at General Motors is responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for our vehicles. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Hardware Design Engineer to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and development of electrical systems for our vehicles, including electrical schematics, PCB layout, and embedded designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, mechanical engineers, and manufacturing teams, to ensure seamless integration of electrical hardware designs into the overall product.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports.
  • Perform worst-case analysis and optimize electrical designs for cost, performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Represent the GM HW team as a design expert in core technologies developed among the team.
  • Optimize five-point parametric tests and finalize end of line production tests.
  • Lead the process as a build-to-print engineer that also acts as a liaison with the contract house.
  • Apply cost-effective solutions with improved performance design.
  • Lead product development as part of a multi-hub engineering organization based in Detroit and West Coast.
  • Refine/optimize requirements with MPG team.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Required. Masters degree preferred.
  • Professional experience creating digital/analog HW interfaces including schematic creation and/or PCB layout & supportive documentation.
  • Minimum 5 years working experience in automotive hardware electronics design.
  • Experience in design & analysis tools like Mentor Graphics (schematic & layout) MathCad, PSpice & Saber.
  • High-speed Communication Buses (Ethernet, PCIe, SerDes...).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous industry experience with infotainment, telematics or connectivity.
  • 7 years working experience in automotive hardware electronics design.
