Risk Management Coordinator

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF RISK MANAGEMENT,
QUALITY AND PATIENT SAFETY
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The primary objective of the Risk Management Coordinator is to identify, assess, and propose solutions for risks or potential risks associated with clinical practices, general liability, loss exposures, and safety in a professional, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Standard working hours are 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with no weekends or holidays. Flexibility in lunch periods and breaks is provided according to daily workflow. The role may involve frequent interruptions and changes in priority throughout the day, requiring the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must possess a current RN license with a BSN; CPHRM Certification is preferred or must be pursued when eligible. A minimum of five years of clinical experience is required. Candidates should demonstrate decision-making abilities within established guidelines and hospital policies, as well as proficiency in mainframe systems and computer applications. Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills are essential for effective interaction with patients, families, physicians, employees, and management.
MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and coordinate data collection, entry, and submission for regulatory reporting.
- Collaborate with managers and executives to resolve patient and family issues effectively.
- Identify and refer quality of care concerns to appropriate departments.
- Conduct investigations into potential liability issues and document findings.
- Design and maintain legal database reports for statistical analysis and patient feedback.
- Assist legal counsel in developing policies and procedures.
- Analyze data to identify trends and systemic issues.
- Review variance reports and communicate findings to relevant departments.
- Provide training and education to staff on customer service and risk management topics.
- Coordinate with internal and external counsel on claims and litigation matters.
- Notify insurance providers of potential claims and ensure proper tracking.
- Participate in the Risk Management Program to mitigate organizational risks through ongoing education and policy review.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with stakeholders.
