Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Domestic Violence Advocate to join our team at SafeHouse Denver. As a key member of our Residential Services team, you will play a critical role in providing support and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to crisis calls and provide emotional support, crisis intervention, and de-escalation to callers.
  • Provide information and education on domestic abuse, trauma response, and coping skills.
  • Support callers in assessing immediate needs, identifying culturally appropriate resources and referrals, and developing a plan of action.
  • Provide safety planning by supporting callers in assessing danger/risks, identifying culturally appropriate resources and referrals, and implementing their safety plan.
  • Screen callers for emergency residential services.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Providing initial intake of new residents and orienting them to the emergency residential facility/program.
  • Assessing immediate needs, identifying culturally appropriate resources and referrals, and supporting residents in developing a plan of action.
  • Providing safety planning by supporting residents in assessing danger/risks, identifying culturally appropriate resources and referrals, and implementing their safety plan.
  • Providing short-term individual advocacy, counseling, safety planning, and crisis intervention to adult residents and children.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or related field.
  • Three years of experience in human services or related field.
  • Bilingual required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; superior time management and organizational skills.

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $24-$27, negotiable based on experience, full-time position, non-exempt, with performance evaluation and opportunity for merit-based increase after one full year of employment. Additionally, we provide a fantastic benefits package, including plenty of paid time off for rest and vacations, and employee health insurance coverage paid 90% or more by employer.
