Job Description

Madison Area Technical College is seeking a pool of highly motivated and qualified candidates to teach part-time courses for the Metal Fabrication program. The successful candidate will be responsible for instructing adult students at the technical diploma and associate degree levels, as well as providing continuing education and customized training for business and industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and implement appropriate instructional strategies, including alternative delivery strategies when appropriate.
  • Assist and advise students who have problems with assignments, tests, grades, course content, career concerns, and other academic matters.
  • Research, develop, and administer skills assessments before, during, and after courses and services with an emphasis on evaluating student performance in courses taught by the instructor.
  • Participate in instructional and curriculum articulation activities with other programs and other divisions of instruction.
  • Comply with college policies and directions regarding student testing record keeping, advanced standing, providing grades on a timely basis, maintaining office hours for student assistance and counseling, etc.
  • Work closely with the College's Business and Industry Services division to support the training needs of business partners and/or clients.
  • Maintain competencies as an instructor as aligned with the Faculty Quality Assurance System.
  • Comply with all aspects of Board policies, work rules, and the appropriate collective bargaining agreement.
  • Attend division, department, and advisory committee meetings.
  • Develop and implement strategies aimed at the retention of students of color, female students, English Language Learners (ELL), and students with disabilities.
  • Participate in appropriate staff development activities such as diversity awareness, technology training, etc.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the college's mission, vision, and values.
Requirements
  • Technical Diploma with the ability to obtain an Associate's degree or a Journeyworker certification within 3 years in a related field.
  • Two (2) years or 4,000 hours of related work experience.
  • One (1) year (2,000 hours) of related work experience must be within the past five (5) years.
  • Two (2) years of full-time equivalent teaching experience in a related area at an accredited college within the past five (5) years may be substituted for the one (1) year of related work experience within the past five (5) years.
  • Fabrication & Manufacturers Association Fundamentals Certification OR Current Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Credential.
  • Three (3) years or 6,000 hours of related work experience.
  • One (1) year (2,000 hours) of related work experience must be within the past five (5) years.
  • Two (2) years of full-time equivalent teaching experience in a related area at an accredited college within the past five (5) years may be substituted for the one (1) year of related work experience within the past five (5) years.
  • Expectation to obtain a Technical diploma and/or Associate's degree within three (3) years of employment (unless waived).
