POSITION OVERVIEW

At Columbia Sportswear Company, our Store Leadership Teams play a crucial role in our success across more than 430 retail locations globally. They are responsible for ensuring smooth store operations, implementing effective strategies, and fostering team development. As an Assistant Retail Store Leader, you will be an integral part of the Store Leadership Team, supporting the Store Manager in optimizing store operations. This position focuses on enhancing customer service, boosting sales, and maximizing profitability. By exemplifying positive leadership, you will assist in cultivating a collaborative environment that prioritizes teamwork and outstanding customer service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and guide a diverse team of store staff, including supervisors and associates.
  • Implement and support initiatives aimed at improving employee productivity and performance.
  • Collaborate with the Store Manager in the recruitment, training, and mentoring of a diverse workforce.
  • Provide daily coaching and guidance to ensure staff meet performance standards.
  • Manage inventory levels effectively through organization, replenishment, shrink control, and communication.
  • Assist the Store Manager in developing and executing action plans to address challenges related to sales, safety, training, and personnel development.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Proficient in operating Point of Sale (POS) systems and other in-store technology.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve operational issues.
  • Excellent communication abilities to interact effectively with the store leadership team, associates, and customers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The role often requires a high level of physical activity, including moving items weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Occasional need to work in a stationary position.
  • Clear communication with team members is essential.
  • Flexibility to work a retail schedule that may vary based on business needs.
