Strategic Communications Lead

We are looking for a Communications Manager III (Contractor) to support our esteemed client.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a principal writer within the team, significantly influencing the communications strategy and generating a substantial volume of written content for all LMD platforms.
  • Create and implement captivating content tailored for LMD's platforms, ensuring alignment with the established tone for each format and audience.
  • Serve as the point of contact for communications inquiries related to LMD-managed headquarters campus teams, including copyediting and verifying event pages and newsletters for employee events and experiences.
  • Assist in formulating both cyclical and ad hoc communications strategies and messaging for all LMD platforms.
  • Engage in partner outreach and prepare the quarterly department Briefing Book.
  • Contribute to the planning of editorial calendars, newsletters, and website updates for LMD-managed public programming platforms, including company Newsmakers and Voices of the Civil Rights Movement.
  • Support social media content creation, targeted advertising, user comment moderation, reporting, newsletters, and troubleshooting for LMD-owned public programming platforms.
  • Play a vital role in internal and external communications for LMD's platforms, particularly during commemorative and heritage months, including corporate and employee blogs, e-newsletters, and posts on internal social media platforms.
  • Assist the Senior Communications Manager in crafting project-based executive summaries, periodic reports, and other critical documents for senior leadership.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across LMD's dynamic and cross-functional team on various internal and external communications initiatives.
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion in significant matters.
  • Maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance, with the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Ideal Candidate Qualities:

  • Outstanding written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation abilities.
  • Proven writing experience across diverse print, video, and digital communications.
  • Capability to adjust voice and tone to effectively engage various audiences across multiple formats.
  • Familiarity with AP Style and social media management tools.
  • Aptitude for effectively interacting with senior management.
  • Ability to cultivate and sustain productive working relationships.
  • Strong judgment, attention to detail, and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work from company HQ campus for four days a week, with flexibility for remote work on Fridays.
