Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Facilities Project Specialist to join our team at General Dynamics Mission Systems. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for providing expert-level support in the planning, design, and implementation of facilities projects.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of engineering principles, project management skills, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement facilities plans and designs that meet the needs of our customers and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with architecture and engineering firms to develop design criteria and prepare layout and detail drawings.
  • Prepare bid sheets for construction and facilities acquisition, and review and estimate design costs.
  • Inspect construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Develop criteria and performance specifications required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes.
  • Schedule, design, coordinate, and implement facilities, real estate, and environmental projects.
  • Determine project requirements and coordinate with internal staff and outside consultants to ensure projects are completed in accordance with contract.
  • Lead efforts in conceptualization of complex designs and design modifications.
  • Develop and perform simple to semi-complex design analysis, including verification of estimates.
  • Assist with development of process improvement initiatives.
  • Frequently initiate studies for management review.
  • Interact with external design firms and contractors, as well as internal customers and leadership.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time after hire.
  • Ability to understand the Facilities Operations processes, project management skills, and proficient knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Proficient ability to consistently apply sound engineering principles, and proficient knowledge of life safety, building codes, corporate environmental, safety, and health policies and procedures.
  • Ability to show initiative on assignments, exercise independent judgment, and professionally execute projects with little direction.
