Job Title: High School Reading Interventionist

St. Labre Indian Catholic School is seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Reading Interventionist to join our team. As a Reading Interventionist, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic success of our high school students.

Job Summary

The Reading Interventionist will be responsible for teaching secondary level students in one or more academic, vocational, or technical subjects. This includes planning and developing course of study, developing and presenting lesson plans, preparing assignments and tests, and monitoring student performance.

Responsibilities
  1. Plan and develop course of study following curriculum guidelines of the school.
  2. Develop and present specific lesson plans using a variety of means, including lectures, projects, group discussions, exhibits, field trips, audiovisual and library resources, computers and the Internet.
  3. Prepare assignments and tests for in-school preparation and homework. Monitor, assist, correct, and grade student performances.
  4. Conduct standardized tests in accordance with school policies and state law.
  5. Maintain order in classroom, and administer discipline when necessary to achieve proper behavior.
  6. Share, with other teachers and aides, responsibility for monitoring halls, study periods, and lunchroom.
  7. Counsel students when academic difficulties or behavioral problems arise.
  8. Keep records of academic performance, attendance, and social acclimation. Report on all aspects of student development for school records and parents; conduct parent-teacher conferences on both a regularly scheduled and as-need basis.
  9. Consult with other professionals where there appears to be evidence of learning disabilities, drug or alcohol abuse, or problems of social adjustment. Coordinate decisions with parents concerning specialized interventions that appears warranted.
  10. Work with counselors in helping students to select course of study or college.
  11. Participate in faculty meetings, educational conferences, professional training seminars and workshops.
  12. Perform related duties such as sponsoring one or more activities or student organizations, assisting pupils in selecting course of study, and counseling student in adjustment and academic problems.

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; and one to three years related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents and the general public.

Certifications and Licenses

Valid Montana Teaching Certificate or sufficient credits for state accreditation as a secondary school teacher with Reading Endorsement.
