Registered Nurse - Patient Care

The University of New Mexico is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse to deliver comprehensive nursing services across various clinical areas, including Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and Emergency Department (ED). This role is essential in fostering a supportive work atmosphere and ensuring high-quality patient care. Candidates must comply with institutional and departmental protocols while utilizing the nursing process to provide care tailored to the clinical requirements of patients, regardless of their location.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Provide safe and effective direct care to assigned patients.
    • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to develop and document personalized care plans.
    • Assist in conducting specialized tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent is secured.
    • Implement emergency interventions for unexpected patient developments.
    • Maintain a secure, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and their families.
    • Engage in professional development through participation in educational opportunities.
    • Enhance patient safety by proactively reviewing policies and procedures, identifying and addressing potential risks, and reporting any safety concerns or medical errors promptly.
    • Comply with the fundamental expectations of the Patient-Centered Medical Home or Patient-Centered Specialty Practice as applicable.
  • Required Qualifications:
    • Graduation from a nationally-accredited nursing program.
    • Current RN licensure in New Mexico or as permitted by reciprocal agreement.
    • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer certification (or to be obtained within 30 days of hire).
    • A minimum of one year of relevant nursing experience.

This position is part-time (0.05 FTE) and casual pool. The role involves significant physical demands and may require handling hazardous materials, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). As a Per Diem RN, a minimum of two shifts per schedule is expected, including one weekend shift and one holiday during summer and winter.
