Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nurse Specialist to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct nursing care to patients in our ICU department, working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest level of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients in our ICU department, including administering medications, performing various medical procedures, and monitoring patient vital signs.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients, taking into account their unique needs and medical histories.
  • Work closely with patients and their families to provide education and support, promoting a positive and empowering patient experience.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date on the latest medical research and best practices in nursing care.
  • Contribute to a positive and respectful work environment, promoting a culture of safety, quality, and compassion.
Requirements
  • 1 year of direct experience as a Registered Nurse in an ICU setting.
  • Current RN licensure in New Mexico or eligibility for licensure by reciprocal agreement.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual English/Spanish language skills.
  • Nationally certified in area of specialty.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with frequent exposure to chemicals and biohazardous materials. The successful candidate will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
