We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Genomics Research Specialist to join our team at the University of California - San Francisco. The successful candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology and genomics, with experience in cell culture, DNA/RNA isolation, and single-cell-omic approaches.
Key Responsibilities- Perform standard molecular cell biology experiments, including isolation of DNA and RNA from tissues and cells, PCR, single-cell based studies, and spatial transcriptomics studies.
- Support research projects involving the genomic study of human skin, with the overarching goal to better understand the biology of skin cancer.
- Collaborate with the research team to design and implement experiments, and analyze data to draw conclusions.
- Develop and maintain laboratory protocols and procedures to ensure high-quality results.
- Contribute to the development of new research projects and ideas, and participate in the preparation of research proposals and manuscripts.
- Master's degree in molecular biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least two years of experience in a genomics/molecular biology laboratory, with a strong background in cell culture, DNA/RNA isolation, and single-cell-omic approaches.
- Experience in sample preparation for Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) (e.g. library preparations).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse groups of people.
- Experience in microscopy.
- Experience in R programming.
- Scientific curiosity and a strong motivation to contribute to the field.
- At least two years of previous research experience.
