About the Position:
Gonzaga University's School of Engineering and Applied Science invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track or tenured faculty position at the level of Associate or Full Professor to lead the new Department of Biomedical Engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the growth and development of the B.S. degree program in Biomedical Engineering
- Refine the curriculum and develop new courses
- Hire and manage faculty to build the Department
- Arrange and manage faculty joint appointments with other Gonzaga departments and institutes
- Guide the program through ABET accreditation
- Provide service to the institution as an academic citizen
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related technical discipline
- 7 years of experience at the Assistant Professor level and above for Associate Professor candidates
- 5 years of experience at the Associate Professor level for Full Professor candidates
- Demonstrated record of teaching and mentoring students with diverse backgrounds, identities, cultures, and experiences
- Demonstrated ability to establish and run a research program that may be tailored for undergraduate students
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant teaching record with a focus on undergraduate instruction
- Engineering practice in academic, industry, or government settings
- ABET or similar accreditation record
- Administrative record
Compensation:
Hiring salary: commensurate with education and experience, additional stipend for chair position.
