Position Overview: The Quality Technician II plays a crucial role in planning, leading, and executing technical tasks. This position is designed for individuals who aspire to become Subject Matter Experts in their field, taking charge of training, process enhancement, and independent problem-solving. Regular collaboration with Quality Engineering, Production Planning, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Testing teams is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement within the assigned area.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and enhancement of departmental process documentation.
  • Promote Lean Manufacturing principles across the organization, particularly in quality assurance practices.
  • Encourage a collaborative and interactive team environment that fosters both learning and teaching.
  • Adhere to established safety protocols and procedures to ensure safe execution of daily tasks, while proactively suggesting improvements and addressing issues with management.
  • Support the calibration program by ensuring all necessary tools are included, maintained, and documented appropriately.
  • Coordinate with calibration suppliers for tool management, including sending out, returning, and repairing as needed.
  • Initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and manage risk assessments when out-of-tolerance tools are identified.
  • Operate x-ray equipment as required.
  • Participate in audits of the calibration system.
  • Conduct inspections of mechanical and electrical components as necessary.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in aerospace/defense, electronics contract manufacturing, or high-precision machining.
  • Familiarity with calibration programs and knowledge of ISO17025 is preferred.
  • Proficient in data entry and item lookups using computers, with experience in MS Word and Excel.
  • Basic understanding of material flow in a manufacturing setting and the significance of tool calibration.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 and AS9100 standards as they relate to manufacturing and quality operations is advantageous.
  • Relevant technical experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Working Conditions: This role operates in a professional office environment within a manufacturing context, utilizing standard office and laboratory equipment. The position may require sitting for extended periods, with occasional standing, bending, reaching, and walking. Light physical effort is expected, including the ability to lift or move objects up to 25 pounds.
