Position Summary: The Quality Technician II will spearhead and execute technical initiatives, becoming a Subject Matter Expert in their designated area. This role entails training, enhancing processes, and independently resolving issues. The Quality Technician will collaborate closely with Quality Engineering, Production Planning, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Testing departments as required.

Position Type: Full Time

Compensation: $43.00/hour (Salary will be determined based on the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and market alignment.)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance processes within the assigned area.
  • Assist in the establishment, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of departmental process documentation.
  • Promote Lean Manufacturing principles across the organization in relation to quality assurance practices.
  • Encourage a collaborative and interactive team environment that fosters both learning and teaching.
  • Adhere to established safety practices, policies, and procedures to ensure safe daily operations, while proactively suggesting improvements and escalating issues to management.
  • Support the calibration program by ensuring all necessary tools are included, sent out, and returned on schedule, while maintaining quality records and assisting in locating missing tools.
  • Coordinate with calibration suppliers for tool dispatch, returns, and repairs as needed.
  • Initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and guide the assessment of risks and actions when out-of-tolerance tools are received.
  • Operate x-ray equipment as required.
  • Participate in audits of the calibration system.
  • Inspect mechanical and electrical components as necessary.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in aerospace/defense, electronics contract manufacturing, or high-precision machining.
  • Familiarity with calibration programs and knowledge of ISO17025 is preferred.
  • Proficient in data entry and item lookups using computers, with experience in MS Word and Excel.
  • Basic understanding of material flow in a manufacturing setting and the significance of tool calibration.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 and AS9100 standards related to manufacturing and quality operations is preferred.
  • Relevant technical experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Working Conditions:

This position operates in a professional office environment within a manufacturing context. Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers will be utilized. The role also involves working in a laboratory environment, utilizing standard laboratory and manufacturing equipment.

Physical Demands:

The physical requirements of this position include prolonged periods of sitting, occasional standing, bending, reaching, and walking. Light physical effort is required, including the ability to lift or move objects up to 10 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
