PACIV, a global leader in control systems integration and compliance engineering, serving sectors such as Bio-Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, Medical Devices, Food & Beverage, and Water/Wastewater, is seeking a dedicated Automation Systems Engineer.


Job Overview:
The Automation Systems Engineer will take charge of all software-related components for diverse machinery and tooling initiatives. These projects can range from minor research and development tasks to extensive production systems. The engineer will collaborate with clients to ascertain their requirements and specifications for each project.

These initiatives will typically involve multiple disciplines, and the engineer will partner with other team members to provide a cohesive and effective solution.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Design, test, implement, and integrate software solutions for custom automation, machine vision, feedback systems, robotics, and data management.

2. Program and integrate various commercial components (cameras, robots, sensors, motors, etc.).

3. Ensure adherence to project budgets and timelines.

4. Communicate progress and challenges with Project Managers.

5. Assist the production team during debugging, commissioning, and equipment installation.

6. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on mechanical and electrical integration.

7. Manage external suppliers effectively.

8. Work with clients to refine project requirements and expectations.

9. Engage with clients on functional and user interface specifications (HMIs, MES integration, etc.).

10. Support equipment deployment and maintenance at client locations, with some travel anticipated.

Qualifications:
1. Minimum of 1 year of experience in software development for PLCs or similar devices; academic experience is acceptable.

2. Proficiency in AutoCAD or Solid Works for creating wiring diagrams.

3. At least 1 year in a controls design capacity within an industrial automation or machine building context, or experience in a manufacturing setting.

Preferred Technical Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering discipline.

2. Familiarity with programming and tuning servomotors, stepper motors, and VFD-controlled motors.

3. Experience with Vision Systems (Cognex, Keyence, etc.).

4. Knowledge of Robot Systems (Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, Mitsubishi, Epson, etc.).

5. Understanding of field devices (sensors and actuators), digital and analog I/O signal processing, and interfacing techniques.

6. Proficiency in one or more programming languages (VB.NET or C preferred).

7. Basic knowledge of HMI/GUI and PLC development environments.

8. Familiarity with .NET and COM/ActiveX environments and SDK/APIs implementation.

9. Understanding of various communication protocols (RS232, Ethernet/IP, Modbus).

10. Direct experience troubleshooting automated systems.

11. Ability to interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics.

12. Capability to read mechanical drawings.
