Position Summary:

We are in search of a Procurement Specialist to become an integral part of the Forge Biologics team. This role is essential in facilitating the strategic, operational, and supply chain functions necessary to support our cGMP manufacturing initiatives. The Procurement Specialist will oversee all procurement and sourcing activities within the supply chain operations, catering to both internal and external gene therapy projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily procurement tasks, including issuing purchase orders, establishing communication with suppliers, and following up on orders.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and accurate lead times.
  • Organize and lead internal meetings to support sourcing efforts for equipment and materials.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with key suppliers to discuss open orders and compliance.
  • Ensure vendor adherence to performance standards and pursue compliant product sourcing.
  • Collaborate with the Purchasing Manager to generate and present bi-weekly backorder reports.
  • Assist in the implementation of inventory management systems, including reorder points and safety stock levels.
  • Leverage industry insights to identify new manufacturers and enhance product availability.
  • Work with Supply Chain Management to assess and negotiate supply agreements.
  • Support vendor evaluations and assist in gathering necessary information for quality assessments.
  • Provide assistance to the finance team in resolving pricing or invoicing issues.
  • Maintain professionalism and ethical standards in alignment with company policies.
  • Collaborate with Inventory Analysts and Operations Planners to ensure optimal purchasing levels.
  • Develop recurring orders for essential products to maintain a steady supply.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, or purchasing.
  • Experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing or regulated supply chain processes is highly desirable.
  • Flexibility to work hours that support production and product transfer needs.
  • Proficient in various ERP/MRP systems.
  • Occasional travel may be required to fulfill job responsibilities.

Work Environment:

This role operates in both warehouse and office settings, with physical demands varying based on specific tasks. The position involves the use of standard office equipment and warehouse tools, including powered industrial trucks. Employees may be required to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs and engage in communication with team members both in person and electronically.
