ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Management or Quality from an accredited institution, or a comparable combination of education and experience in aerospace manufacturing Quality Assurance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 10 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing quality assurance, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role. Certification as a green belt or higher is advantageous, along with 3 years or more in a Six Sigma environment.
ROLE SUMMARY:
The primary objective of this role is to oversee a Quality Assurance and Quality Control framework that interprets customer specifications (including drawings and contractual obligations) and plans, executes, and assesses outputs to fulfill these specifications. Furthermore, this position is responsible for maintaining Quality System standards in alignment with Gentex Corporation's management expectations and system certifications (AS-9100 and ISO 9001:2008), while also developing metrics to evaluate ongoing improvements to the system.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- In-depth knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies and their effective application.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance, coupled with a proven record of managing systems, personnel, and process enhancement initiatives.
- Familiarity with aerospace quality management systems.
- Experience in ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory standards.
- Ability to formulate, document, and execute a QA management strategy that aligns with overarching business objectives.
- Strategic influencing capabilities to promote continuous improvements in QA processes across all organizational levels.
- Strong leadership qualities that foster team confidence and respect while effectively motivating team members.
- Diplomatic skills to manage pressures and enforce quality standards when necessary.
- Robust analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the capacity to understand and evaluate requirements.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to prepare and present reports to diverse audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills to encourage collaboration among all functional areas within the organization.
- Expertise in Quality Assurance disciplines, including:
o Statistical principles
o Supplier quality assurance processes
o Inspection techniques, physical testing, and measurement principles
o ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards and regulations
o GD&T principles and machining processes
- Ability to cultivate and sustain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
- Competence in interpreting customer quality specifications and product documentation.
- Determination and documentation of incoming testing and inspection protocols, including sampling strategies.
- LEAN experience is a plus.
- Capable of developing a proficient quality team through expectation setting, performance assessment, and effective hiring and disciplinary practices.
- Proficient in Minitab and Microsoft Office applications.
STRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, implement, and uphold a Quality Assurance Management system across all business sectors, ensuring the definition, development, and deployment of quality assurance strategies that align with overall business KPIs.
- Develop and oversee quality assurance metrics aimed at enhancing performance across all teams.
- Implement continuous quality improvement initiatives across all areas:
- Establish practices to enhance quality during hardware or production process development.
- Define or specify standards, methods, or procedures to assess product quality or readiness for release.
- Ensure quality throughout all development phases, from requirements and design to production.
- Evaluate and refine QA standards, technologies, and methodologies.
- Identify deviations from standards and recommend modifications to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with teams and the Director of Corporate Quality to establish best practices and track Quality metrics supporting enterprise objectives.
OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure adherence to QA standards and report on compliance, including performance against the QA Management plan, business KPIs, and customer feedback.
- Document inspection methods to ensure reusability and compliance with standards.
- Ensure the viability, functionality, and effectiveness of inspection tools and fixtures.
- Identify quality-related training needs and provide necessary training.
- Oversee the review of Purchase Orders, Contracts, Sales Orders, Work Orders, and Drawings based on requirements.
- Lead and supervise others in specification reviews and implement plans to maintain compliance with the Quality Manual and applicable standards.
- Guide and supervise the development and implementation of methods for handling non-conforming materials and assess associated costs and responsibilities.
- Conduct and oversee AS9100 maintenance activities, including audits, preventative and corrective actions, and continuous improvement tasks.
- Manage daily operations to ensure effective, efficient, and safe performance of the Quality Department, including Quality Engineering, Quality Control, Test Lab, and Metrology, while driving continuous improvement efforts.
- Evaluate employees, provide coaching to enhance performance, and administer disciplinary actions as necessary.
- Conduct performance management and appraisals for the Quality Department.
- Participate in the Design Review Process, including design reviews and drawing assessments for inspection and testability.
- Implement a Supplier Quality Management Program in accordance with corporate guidelines.
- Complete additional duties as assigned by management.
SUPERVISION:
Responsible for managing Quality Assurance & Quality Control personnel.
