POSITION SUMMARY:

The System Design Engineer is tasked with the creation and development of comprehensive system and subsystem designs, alongside software specifications, integration processes, and verification assessments. The individual will ensure that all designs are thoroughly defined, traceable, and validated through meticulous testing down to the smallest components and software specifications. Meeting deadlines and delivering superior quality results are critical for success in this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish and maintain traceability of system, subsystem, and software specifications.
  • Perform functional analysis to formulate workflows and execution strategies.
  • Design and construct system and subsystem architectures, ensuring interface commonality across various platforms.
  • Break down performance and verification specifications, creating corresponding design verification strategies and documentation.
  • Identify, define, and oversee system interfaces, including power and data connections.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of all system, subsystem, and component interfaces.
  • Assist in managing power and network bandwidth allocations for diverse vehicle functionalities.
  • Align system designs across physical, power, data, and software dimensions.
  • Integrate and validate system and subsystem components in laboratory and vehicle settings.
  • Develop and implement integration, testing, and verification strategies for systems and subsystems.
  • Provide technical insights for project planning, scheduling, and cost assessments.
  • Acquire expertise in one or more technical areas such as Power, Fire Control, Diagnostics, Information Assurance, C4, or Software User Interface design.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Robust background in system, subsystem, and software specification development, design, and testing.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools (e.g., Cameo Magic Draw or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with data bus design and management tools, such as CAN, Ethernet, and MIL-STD-1553, along with related data collection instruments.
  • Experience with requirements management software (e.g., DOORs or similar).
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, preferably electrical engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Practical experience in troubleshooting complex systems and subsystems.
  • Knowledge of ground combat vehicles is advantageous.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-driven with strong interpersonal and leadership capabilities.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Willingness to work occasional evening or weekend overtime as necessary.
  • Capability to operate in office, workshop, testing laboratory, and field environments, including around military vehicles.
  • Must fulfill physical requirements to work in and around vehicles, including passing the Anthropometric Size Requirement (ASR) test for confined spaces.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance if necessary.
