POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Principal Systems Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading or assisting in the development and management of requirements.
- Creating and overseeing subsystem and component performance specifications through thorough analysis and derivation of necessary requirements.
- Establishing and maintaining requirements verification and compliance, along with supporting documentation.
- Conducting requirements decomposition analysis to inform concept architectures and system characteristics.
- Facilitating architecture development for assigned systems, subsystems, and components.
- Overseeing the development and maintenance of interface requirements and design information for assigned systems.
- Documenting design decisions and supporting the generation of System/Subsystem Design Descriptions (SSDDs) and capability assessments.
- Coordinating and facilitating formal decisions and trade studies to guide design and document outcomes.
- Assisting in the execution and monitoring of cost, schedule, and risk management.
- Coordinating Systems Engineering activities to influence design outcomes.
- Supporting vehicle-level Systems Engineering activities and program milestone evaluations.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Proficiency with DOORS requirements management tool.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in systems engineering, particularly in requirements analysis, derivation, and allocation.
- Ability to translate requirements into feasible design solutions within applicable constraints.
- Experience in developing architectural concepts and evaluating alternatives.
- Capability to balance system design with operational concepts, performance metrics, and logistical considerations.
- Experience in planning, conducting, and documenting complex trade studies.
- Ability to generate System/Subsystem Design Descriptions and capability assessments according to program specifications.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Electrical Engineering, with a Master's in Systems Engineering.
- Experience with military vehicle systems.
- Experience in logical architecture development, including use case creation.
- Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and tools such as SysML.
- Knowledge of the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF).
- Possession of INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification.
- Experience in mentoring and leading junior engineers.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Support in requirements development and management.
- Experience with DOORS requirements management tool.
EDUCATION REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in engineering with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
