ROLE OVERVIEW

As a Principal Systems Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading or assisting in the development and management of requirements.
  • Creating and overseeing subsystem and component performance specifications through analysis and requirement derivation.
  • Establishing and maintaining requirements verification and compliance documentation.
  • Conducting requirements decomposition analysis to inform concept architectures and system characteristics.
  • Facilitating architecture development for assigned systems, subsystems, and components.
  • Managing the development and maintenance of interface requirements and design information.
  • Documenting design decisions and generating System/Subsystem Design Descriptions (SSDDs) along with capability assessments.
  • Coordinating formal decisions and trade studies to influence design outcomes.
  • Monitoring and executing cost, schedule, and risk management.
  • Coordinating Systems Engineering activities to enhance design influence.
  • Supporting vehicle-level Systems Engineering activities and program milestone evaluations.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Proficiency with DOORS requirements management tool.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in systems engineering, particularly in requirements analysis, derivation, and allocation.
  • Ability to create architecture concepts and assess alternatives.
  • Competence in balancing system design with operational concepts, performance metrics, and logistical considerations.
  • Capability to plan, execute, and document complex trade studies.
  • Skill in generating System/Subsystem Design Descriptions and capability assessments aligned with program requirements.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Electrical Engineering, with a Master's in Systems Engineering.
  • Experience with military vehicle systems.
  • Knowledge of logical architecture development, including use case creation.
  • Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools such as SysML and Cameo.
  • Understanding of the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF).
  • Possession of INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification.
  • Experience in mentoring and leading junior engineers.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Support in requirements development and management.
  • Experience with DOORS requirements management tool.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
