Job Title: Studio Technical Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Studio Technical Lead to support our broadcast television and radio studio facilities for an established multi-channel retailer company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations, coordination, and execution of all studio productions.
  • Partner with the client production team to collaborate on studio support needs.
  • Maintain, organize, advise, operate, and troubleshoot all aspects of the client's studio facilities.
  • Oversee and manage all assigned AVI-SPL staff within the assigned location.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:Production Support

The Studio Technical Lead will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating the technical production needs for all events and ensuring requirements are in full compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Facilitating equipment rental and other supplemental production requirements.
  • Managing all aspects of day-of-production support, including the coordination of all studio resources.
  • Ensuring fully quality-checked and optimized facility, event assets, and experience prior to production.
  • Assisting with presenter preparation, including direction, facilitating rehearsal, and other pre-event needs.
  • Overseeing post-production needs, including basic editing and delivery of recordings.
  • Filling in necessary production crew positions as needed.
Production Management

The Studio Technical Lead will also be responsible for:

  • Organizing event metrics and feedback and providing recommendations on areas for improvement.
  • Participating in assessment of technical challenges and overseeing creation of incident and postmortem reports.
  • Participating in regularly scheduled meetings with team members to ensure alignment on event procedures, scheduling, and production briefs as required.
  • Developing and documenting best practices for the studio, including maintenance, scheduling, production operations, and technologies to ensure top-level production quality and consistency.
  • Coordinating with client engineering teams to facilitate repair needs to ensure operational readiness of facilities.
  • Brainstorming ideas and providing solutions to enhance production value, facility, technology, and process improvements.
  • Developing and providing key factors analysis reports to the manager on a quarterly basis.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in live event production, event coordination, broadcast, audio/visual, and video production, or a similar field.
  • 3+ years of experience in onsite, virtual, and hybrid live events, database and scheduling management, and knowledge of traditional event production, broadcast, and digital equipment.
  • A keen eye for detail with a knowledge of what creatively works well for broadcast production.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-reliant in the execution of daily responsibilities.
  • Ability to maintain composure and a positive attitude during high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to communicate challenging aspects to clients while maintaining a high level of confidence and leadership.
  • Track record of being organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and working well in a team atmosphere, as well as having the capability to work well individually.
  • Strong work ethic, self-direction, self-motivation, patience, persistence, and perspective.
  • Excellent collaboration and customer relationship skills with the understanding of the importance of white-glove service.
  • Consistent proactive preparation and timely responses to multiple channels of communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledgeable in the operations and technical execution of video production, audio-visual technology, and event space facilities.
  • Experience in various production roles, including technical directing, audio mixing, camera operation, and editing.
  • Experience with various production environments and video switchers, including Grass Valley and Ross Acuity.
  • Experience with audio production systems, including Yamaha audio consoles, Dante audio routing networks, Shure microphones, and intercom systems.
  • Experience with Telemetrics, Sony, Panasonic, and Black Magic robotic cameras.
  • Experience with Adder KVM systems.
  • Experience with Haivision encoding and decoding systems.
  • Familiarity with post-production software, including Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro.
  • College degree in video production, broadcasting, communications, or a similar field.
