Job Title: Safety Administrator

Job Summary:

The Safety Administrator will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety protocols across all dealership locations. This includes conducting regular safety audits, training staff on safety procedures, monitoring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards, and addressing any safety concerns promptly.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct frequent audits of work areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Conduct fire and severe weather drills to ensure employee preparedness
  • Manage chemical audits and ensure SDS sheets are accessible to all employees
  • Organize first aid classes as needed to ensure employees are equipped to handle emergencies
  • Perform required inspections to maintain compliance and ensure safety devices are ready to use in the event of an emergency
  • Conduct investigations on close calls to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Manage employee accidents, ensuring employees receive proper care and develop action items to prevent recurrence
  • Perform root cause analysis to identify and address safety hazards
  • Assist management in completing worker's compensation paperwork
  • Develop procedures for reporting incidents, such as close calls or hazardous situations
  • Maintain OSHA 300 log to track workplace injuries and illnesses
  • Conduct regular employee training to ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Be the point of contact for regulatory bodies and inspectors
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in health and safety legislation and industry standards
  • Ensure all necessary equipment is available, properly maintained, and in good working order
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of current safety practices and policies
  • Implement improvements based on feedback, audits, and incident investigations
  • Maintain records of inspections, incidents, and compliance efforts
  • Ensure all staff are aware of emergency procedures and how to use safety equipment
  • Ensure policies comply with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Identify risks related to automotive repairs, customer interactions, and dealership operations
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Some experience in a safety-related field
  • Relevant OSHA certifications desired but not required
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and familiarity with automotive industry-specific safety practices a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Assertive and able to lead and influence teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to lead and influence teams, fostering a culture of safety
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience with worker's compensation
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Work Environment:

This role involves spending time in various settings, including office spaces, service bays, repair shops, and outdoor areas like parking lots and vehicle display areas. The environment can vary from quiet office settings where administrative tasks are completed, to more active and potentially noisy areas where inspections and safety audits are conducted.

The Safety Administrator will regularly interact with employees across different departments, from service technicians to sales staff, which may require adapting to different work cultures and communication styles. The role also involves frequent travel between locations, meaning the coordinator must be comfortable with both indoor and outdoor conditions, sometimes in varying weather.

Overall, the work environment is fast-paced and requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, ensuring that safety standards are consistently upheld across all dealership locations.
