Position Overview:

Note: This position is for the UNM-Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 130 miles west of Albuquerque, NM.

The University of New Mexico's Gallup Branch, within the Fine Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences Division, is looking to recruit adjunct faculty to instruct face-to-face and/or develop introductory courses (1000/2000 level) in the upcoming semesters across various disciplines, including:

- American Studies
- Anthropology
- Comparative Global Ethnic Studies
- Family & Child Studies
- Geography
- Political Science
- Psychology
- Public Health
- Sociology
- Sustainability Studies

UNM Gallup serves as a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico, designed to provide high-quality education tailored to the diverse needs of students pursuing post-secondary education. The branch colleges specifically cater to the unique requirements and multicultural backgrounds of their communities by offering educational programs, career and technical education, and transfer programs that prepare students for further studies.

The Fine Arts, Humanities & Sciences Division at UNM Gallup Branch is in search of qualified temporary part-time faculty members to teach lower division classes in the aforementioned subjects. Instructors are accountable for all aspects of their courses, including but not limited to:

- Conducting face-to-face classes during assigned times, which may include evenings or weekends
- Delivering course content
- Developing assignments
- Grading assignments
- Reporting grades
- Assessing student learning as outlined by the division chair

Positions are subject to availability each semester based on student enrollment, current course offerings, and graduation requirements. Selected candidates will report to the division chair.

Compensation:
Adjunct Faculty compensation is based on qualifications and credit hour course loads, as follows:

Credentials Rate Per Credit Hour:
- Terminal Degree, plus 12 hours College teaching: $1,058.60
- Terminal Degree, less than 12 hours College teaching: $1,016.06
- Master's Degree, plus 12 hours College teaching: $969.76
- Master's Degree, less than 12 hours College teaching: $920.95

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in the relevant discipline or subfield; OR a master's degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in an accredited program in the relevant discipline or subfield.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD in the relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience in a post-secondary institution or community college.
