Adjunct Faculty - Art History

Position Overview

The University of New Mexico is seeking to appoint a qualified individual for the role of Temporary Adjunct Faculty within the Fine Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences Division. This position is designed for those who are passionate about imparting knowledge in Art History and are committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging course content in various Art History subjects, including but not limited to:
* Introduction to Art
* History of Art I
* History of Art II

Instructors will manage all aspects of the courses they teach, which include:
1. Conducting classes during scheduled times, which may include evenings or weekends.
2. Developing and delivering course materials.
3. Creating and grading assignments.
4. Reporting student grades and assessing learning outcomes as per departmental guidelines.

Employment Conditions

Positions are contingent upon departmental needs, student enrollment, and course offerings. Instructors will report directly to the division chair.

Compensation Structure

Compensation for adjunct faculty is based on academic credentials and credit hour course loads, with rates structured as follows:

Compensation Rates
Terminal Degree, plus 12 hours of college teaching: $1,058.60
Terminal Degree, less than 12 hours of college teaching: TBD
Master's Degree, plus 12 hours of college teaching: $969.76
Master's Degree, less than 12 hours of college teaching: $920.95

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Art History or a closely related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree in Art History or a related field.
  • Experience in college-level teaching.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, along with the ability to engage with diverse communities.
