Job Title: Bridge Carpenter

We are seeking a skilled Bridge Carpenter to join our team at H&K Group, Inc. As a key member of our Structures Division, you will be responsible for constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, ensuring compliance with local building codes.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform all work according to OSHA and H&K Safety policies
  • Study blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required
  • Select specified type of lumber or other materials
  • Prepare layout, mark cutting and assembly lines on materials, shape materials to prescribed measurements, and assemble cut and shaped materials
  • Erect framework for structures, lay subflooring, build stairs, and install partitions and cabinet work
  • Cover subfloor with building paper, lay hardwood, parquet, and wood-strip-block floors, and apply shock-absorbing, sound-deadening, and decorative paneling to ceilings and walls
  • Fits and installs prefabricated window frames, doors, doorframes, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware
  • Construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete, erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level, and perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or 1 month of related experience and/or training
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving ability, and ability to travel as required for projects
  • Ability to fit test and utilize appropriate PPE as needed, and meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
