Job Summary

The H&K Group, Inc. is seeking a skilled Bridge Carpenter Foreperson to lead and direct activities of the crew constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, conforming to local building codes in heavy civil and highway construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Supervision: Train and direct activities of the crew, ensuring all work is performed according to OSHA and H&K Safety policies.
  • Project Planning: Read blueprints and job-related documents to properly plan work, schedule materials, equipment, and work for the crew.
  • Communication: Develop and submit crew SIP's, track daily quantities, and conduct daily huddles with the crew to establish daily production goals.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all work meets company standards and local building codes.
  • Training and Development: Proactively train and mentor crew members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Customer Relations: Communicate effectively with customer representatives and inspectors.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university, or one year of related experience and/or training.
  • Experience: Working knowledge and ability to safely and efficiently understand and direct carpentry crew, read blueprints and job-related documents, operate surveying instruments, and experience with pile driving and drilling equipment.
  • Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated leadership ability, problem-solving, basic computer skills, and ability to travel as required for projects.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: 2 years of relevant experience and/or training, experience operating heavy equipment used in highway construction, supervisory experience, and OSHA or other relevant safety certifications.
