UTEC's technological requirements are fulfilled by the foundational infrastructure that includes essential technology components necessary for the organization’s functionality.

The fundamental technology framework comprises UTEC's assortment of on-premise and off-premise/cloud technology resources utilized to conduct, oversee, manage, and facilitate business operations.

These resources encompass physical devices (e.g., computers and printers), data storage and retrieval systems, networking frameworks, telecommunication systems, cloud services, website assets, data management systems (e.g., Quickbase), and applications aimed at supporting the organizational objectives.

As Chief Technology Officer, the responsibilities include:

Strategic Planning:
Collaborating with the COO and senior management to develop the organization's technology strategy and integration that aligns with the company’s culture and operational processes.

Policy Formulation:
Creating and instituting IT policies and frameworks to facilitate the execution of strategies. Ensuring that protocols for data management and protection are established and implemented.

Software Assessment:
Assess, select, and deploy software solutions that improve operational efficiency, enhance customer service, and bolster data security. Conduct regular evaluations to assess the utilization of current software solutions. Oversee the transition to new software/products/applications and provide training to staff for effective use.

Training and User Support:
Design and implement regular comprehensive training programs to ensure that staff are adept at using various software tools.

Collaborate with department heads to identify training needs and ensure that all products are fully utilized by employees.

Provide technical assistance to end-users, promptly addressing hardware and software challenges. Serve as the escalation point for complex issues and coordinate with IT vendors to efficiently resolve technical difficulties.

Cybersecurity Management:

Enforce cybersecurity policies and protocols to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with industry and state regulations.

Conduct routine security audits and risk assessments.

Technology Evaluation:

Prepare and present to senior management using various methods regarding project management, status updates, the feasibility of new technologies, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies, as well as the financial implications of technology challenges or implementations.

Oversee and analyze core enterprise applications including Google email, Google enterprise suite applications, Quickbase database, and any other utilized application systems (i.e., Salesforce).

User Account Management:
Administer user accounts and associated permissions within our systems and software products, ensuring that users have the necessary access rights to resources and data.

Hardware Oversight:
Maintain and update hardware inventory, and procure new equipment as necessary. Configure and set up new workstations and devices.

Employee Onboarding and Offboarding:

Create and configure user accounts across various systems and applications, ensuring that new employees receive the required hardware, grant appropriate access based on roles, and arrange for product training to familiarize them with all systems and tools.

During offboarding, promptly disable or remove access to all systems and applications, and coordinate the return of company-owned hardware and assets.


Proactive Maintenance and Monitoring:
Continuously monitor all hardware, software, and networking in both physical and virtual environments. Ensure minimal infrastructure downtime and optimize performance. Update and patch user computing environments as required. Disaster recovery planning and system backups are essential. Oversee onsite and remote access for staff support, cloud network, and onsite VOIP telephone systems.
