Key Responsibilities
  1. Charge Entry and Posting: Input all charges related to physician services into the practice management system, ensuring accuracy and compliance with practice protocol.
  2. Payment Processing: Post all payments, including co-payments, insurance payments, and patient payments, into the practice management system, ensuring accuracy and timely reimbursement.
  3. Credit and Debit Adjustments: Post all credit and debit adjustments to patient accounts, adhering to strict guidelines and protocols.
  4. Batch Management: File all charge, payment, and adjustment batches in the appropriate format for quick reference.
  5. Coding and Compliance: Review physician coding at charge entry to ensure compliance with Medicare guidelines and accurate reimbursement.
  6. Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to patients and authorized representatives, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  7. Insurance Verification: Verify patient demographic and insurance information in the practice management system, ensuring accuracy and timely reimbursement.
  8. Follow-up and Reconciliation: Follow up on outstanding insurance claims and patient account balances, ensuring timely reimbursement and resolution.
  9. Reporting and Analysis: Provide regular reports and analysis to management, highlighting trends and areas for improvement in revenue cycle operations.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in medical billing and accounts receivable, preferably in a surgical or vascular surgery environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong focus on customer service.
  • Strong basic mathematical skills and proficiency in general office automation, including operation of fax machines, copy machines, and multi-line phone systems.
  • Proficiency in working with a PC, the Internet, and MS Windows.
  • A good understanding of current Medicare Compliance, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations.
