Job Overview

The Floating Hospital (TFH), established in 1866, stands as a beacon of hope in New York City, dedicated to providing unrestricted healthcare to all individuals, irrespective of their immigration status, insurance coverage, or financial capability. As a Federally Qualified Health Center, TFH is the leading provider for homeless families residing in shelters and safe houses across the city.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcome and assist individuals entering the clinic.
  • Manage all incoming phone inquiries and offer pertinent information to callers.
  • Relay messages to the appropriate staff members efficiently.
  • Guide visitors and patients to their designated areas.
  • Answer calls with the TFH greeting, screening and directing them to the relevant departments.
  • Confirm patient appointments as instructed.
  • Handle scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellations of appointments.
  • Ensure the reception and waiting areas are kept tidy and organized.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications:

Candidates should possess a High School diploma or equivalent experience. A minimum of one year of experience in a receptionist or front desk role is required. A valid NY state driver’s or non-driver ID/license is necessary. Applicants should have a solid understanding of customer service principles and practices, along with proficiency in computer applications relevant to the role. Strong work ethics, reliability, and the ability to handle stress are essential. Attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills are also required. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is mandatory.
